Uganda under twenty women’s national football team progressed to round three of the U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers after eliminating South Africa at round two.

The Pearl of Africa girls traveled to Johannesburg with a one goal advantage, of first leg held at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende, a draw of any kind was a blessing to Uganda and at the end of the second leg encounter, none saw each other’s net.

The barren stalemate pushed Ayubu Khalifa’s side to third round following a 1-0 aggregate score after 180 minutes of play.

Ayubu who graduated with his girls from U17 to U20 never hide his excitement after getting a positive result from South Africa.

I thank the Almighty God who has enabled us to get the result in South Africa, I am so happy we managed to get a point against South Africa, am happy for girls, they followed the instructions, I also thank my technical team for the great job.” said Ayubu Khalifa before adding.

Uganda is now waiting to meet the winner between Zambia and Ghana, Ayubu is not taken, ready to battle any side before his face.

We are looking forward to next opponent, I am believing in my team and we can go through, I believe.” Ayubu Khalifa.

The world Cup finals in Costa Rica is August 2022.
