Dr Kiiza Besigye, the four-time presidential aspirant, reminded people in struggle that they should fight for power not offices as it has been before.
Dr Kizza Besigye, the four-time presidential aspirant, reminded people in struggle that they should fight for power not offices as it has been before.
Besigye who did not come back to contest for the big seat in the forthcoming general elections, said this while hosted on NBS TV morning show, dubbed the Morning Breeze.
“Ugandans must understand power and offices. Many are fighting for offices. It can never work that way. We have always won offices in Kampala but have we ever had power in Kampala? The struggle in this country should be a struggle for power. ” Dr Besigye said before adding.
“If the focus is on occupying an office, we will never deliver this country.
About why the opposition failed to Unite to present a single candidate on presidential seat, the initiator of defiance politics and the master behind ‘Plan B’ Dr Kizza had this to reply.
“If we are uniting to get a president, we will never unite because all political parties are set up in a way that they all want to be president.
We have missed a huge opportunity already. The best time to unite was during Togikwatako. This was a principle under which the opposition would stop Museveni from being on the ballot.
In his statements, Besigye also revealed the candidate he is to support in the forthcoming coming elections.
The Constitution provides that the candidates can consult one year to the elections. They were not able to.
We need to go in this election with a liberation message. A candidate with a liberation message in this election is my candidate. You will never win by compliance. This is why we have advocated for defiance. We need to win power, and then power will give us the offices. Kizza Besigye.
