Stanbic Uganda Cup: ‘King’ David, ‘Mutabuliiki’ Mubiru to Gauge the Volume of Each other’s Football at Round of Sixteen

The Stanbic Uganda Cup draws for the round of sixteen were held Today, Monday, 26, February, 2024 at FUFA Complex in Mengo. 

The draws saw the joint cup record winners [10 times], KCCA fall in lane of the tax collectors, Uganda Revenue Authority FC. 

The two sides are coached by tacticians who prefer free flowing football, in David Obua nicknamed King David and Abdullah Mubiru, the football fanatics refers to as Mutabuliiki. 

The two have gotten chance to gauge each other’s football before the return of the second leg of Uganda Premier league. 

For starters, the two Tacticians relatively have the same football style and philosophy, they last met in January this year in Premier league, the Cityzens came out as the winners beating the tax collectors 3-2 on floodlights at Phillip Omondi Stadium – Lugogo. 

To win their third cup title in 2014, URA beat KCCA via spot kicks 4-2 following a two all draw in normal time. 

KCCA FC will be traveling to Lugazi at Mehta stadium between 1st and 7th March, 2024. Lugazi is a tough hunting ground for the cityzens. 

In other draws, on form UPL side, Kitara FC will be hosting 9-time winners, Sports Club Villa in Masindi while the reigning winners, Vipers SC will be at home for the first time in this 50th edition campaign, they will be hosting lower division side from Eastern Uganda, Iganga Young FC at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende. 

The other joint record winners, Express FC will be visiting the UPL table leaders, BUL FC while Busoga United will be at home hosting NEC FC. 

All these games shall be played between 1st and 7th March 2024.
