Second-Half Blitz Fires MUST Past UNIK in Pepsi University League

Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) put up a dominant second-half performance to crush the University of Kisubi (UNIK) 4–0 in front of their home crowd at the MUST playground on Thursday, climbing to the summit of Group A in the ongoing Pepsi University Football League.

After a tense first half that ended goalless, the hosts came back stronger and turned the game on its head in the final thirty minutes, leaving the visitors completely outclassed.

Atuhaire Ronald broke the deadlock in the 61st minute, tapping in a rebound after UNIK’s goalkeeper Kizito Amos fumbled Ahikiriza’s free kick — a goal that drew protests from the visitors over an alleged offside position. In the process, Kizito picked up an injury and was replaced by defender-turned-keeper Odoi Livingston, a change that proved costly.

With UNIK unsettled, MUST smelled blood and launched relentless attacks. Six minutes later, Ssebaggala Marvin doubled the lead with a thunderous long-range strike off Nankunda Christopher’s pass before adding his second of the day in the 70th minute to make it 3–0.

Substitute Nahurira Halorde put the icing on the cake with a well-timed header in the 90th minute to seal the 4–0 rout — a statement victory that sent the home fans into wild celebration.

The win took MUST to four points, placing them top of Group A after drawing their previous fixture away to Kampala International University.

The Pepsi University Football League action continues on Friday, with defending champions Uganda Martyrs University hosting Kampala International University at Nkozi.
