Schools Activities Updates: Ball Games II Split into Two Championships – USSSA President Reveals

While climaxing the first half of the year, the Schools Sports governing body, Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has on Wednesday at their head office at GNS Plaza, Old Kampala, held a press briefing to give updates about the work done and the future activities.
The Association president, Justus Mugisha, his immediate past predecessor, Patrick Alfred Okanya and the head of secretariat (CEO), Chris Mugisha Banage were in president to address the media.
Among the eye catching updates made is the splitting of the ball games two that are coming next month into two championships.
The championship has been splitted into two, the FEASSSA qualifying tournament and the none FEASSSA qualifying tournament, both will be hosted at the same venue, that is Teso College Aloet in Soroti.
“We have decided to split what we call ball games II into two tournaments, the first will take place in the month of July from 9th to 17th July, so all those categories that have qualifiers for FEASSSA games shall be played in the first tournament and then the none FEASSSA qualifier games, those will be honoured in the second term holidays, that’s is 1st to 9th September and will also be played at Teso College.” USSSA President, Justus Mugisha revealed.
The FEASSSA qualifier games that shall be in the first and the main ball games two championships are; Netball, Volleyball, Basketball 3*3, Handball, Rugby 7s and Athletics.
The non-FEASSSA qualifiers Championship that shall be hosted between 1st and 9th September 2024 at Teso College Aloet are; [Football, basketball 3*3, Netball, Volleyball, basketball, Handball] these are for U16, then other games include; Lacrosse,Wood ball, Dance sport, Mind games,Beach Soccer and beach volleyball.
The president also revealed that the preparations for FEASSSA games are almost 95% done according to the recent inspections made.
“FEASSSA games this year will be hosted in Uganda. Uganda has hosted these games six times and for the first time, they will be hosted in Eastern Uganda, specifically Bukedea Comprehensive School. Preparation are already underway. We have a stadium under construction at Amus College. We expect the ISF President Laurent Petrynka at the games as well as his General Secretary and a few Members from the ISF Secretariat to guide.
We also expect the President of Federation of Africa School Sports (FASS) and a few chairmen from other countries across the continent.”Justus Mugisha, USSSA President.
These games that attract at least 3500 participants are set to be hosted between 16th and 27th August 2024.
