PlayOn Foundation Boosts Asubo Ladies with Vital Equipment Donation

The atmosphere at Wakisha Grounds on Saturday, October 11, 2025, was filled with mixed emotions after Asubo Ladies battled Rines Ladies to a goalless draw in a tense FUFA Women’s Super League encounter. But just as the players were catching their breath, a heartwarming surprise awaited them — a life-changing gesture from the PlayOn Foundation in partnership with Sembeza Africa.

Led by former KCCA FC midfielder Ivan Ntegge and his brother Derrick Ntege, the PlayOn Foundation delivered a generous donation of football equipment to the Asubo Ladies, marking a major step forward for the club’s development. The package included essential training items such as footballs, cones, bibs, boots, and skipping ropes — all aimed at boosting the team’s preparation and morale.

“This is a great day for women’s football,” said Derrick Ntegge, the Executive Director of the PlayOn Foundation. “After a tough start to the season, these girls showed real resilience. Together with Sembeza Africa and support from Aston Villa Ladies Football Team, we want to give them the tools and motivation to keep pushing forward.”

His brother Ivan Ntege, who also featured for Botswana’s Township Rollers, emphasized the importance of uplifting smaller clubs. “We want to help teams like Asubo Ladies that are still finding their footing. Our aim is to ensure they have the resources to compete and grow, just like the top teams—Kampala Queens and Kawempe Muslim,” he noted.

For Coach Kamya Swalleh, the timing couldn’t have been better. “We’re thrilled — not just because we earned our first point of the season, but because we’ve received such valuable support,” he said. “Our target is survival, but with this backing, we believe we can do more. This partnership gives us a real boost to raise our performance levels.”

Asubo Ladies are now gearing up for their next fixture against She Cooperates in Njeru, buoyed by renewed confidence and fresh equipment. For the players, this donation represents more than just gear — it’s a symbol of belief, opportunity, and a brighter future for women’s football in Uganda.
