Quarter Final 4 results:

Nkumba University 1-1 Uganda Martyrs University

Nkumba University and the defending champions, Uganda Martyrs University shared spoils in the first leg of the 4th quarter final of the Pepsi University Football League.

The game honored at Nkumba University playground on Wednesday afternoon, the beach boys and village boys scored once against each other for both sides to settle for a draw.

Lubega Ismeal scored for Sulaiman Bbosa charges while Ssentongo Akbar netted for Uganda Martyrs University.

As early as two minutes into the game, Lubega Ismeal with a rebound handed the beach boys a quick lead.

Nkumba dominated the first 30 minutes of the game and in the front 15, they had two clear chances to double their lead but failed to convert which helped UMU to grow into the game.

With Ogwang Francis, holding midfielder for UMU taking the control of the midfield, Kisuze’s boys gained the full control of the game and three minutes into second half, Ssentongo Akbar netted with a Header to leave the matters, thanks to well taken corner kick from Kayondo Joseph.

“At first we were positive that we can get the three points but that’s football, we have conceded an early goal and it disorganized the whole system but good enough we managed to come back to convert in the second half, one all is still Open, but we are going back to correct the mistakes, hopefully we can get points next week.

By the way Nkumba is a very improved side, I told my boys, they never expected the performance, but I did, knew because I have been watching their games, so they have seen, come next week they will give it all.” Said Eric Kisuze, Uganda Martyrs University tactician.

Nkumba’s tactician also commented on the game.

“The game plan worked well because we wanted to press them so high in the first half and exactly we did that, they made the mistake and they conceded, we continued to do the same in the next 10 to 15 minutes, we got two clear chances we didn’t utilize them, because we had to kill off the game in those minutes.

But still we played well in the second half, unfortunately we conceded because the opponents improved their game. Now the pressure is on our side, definitely we have to risk when we go to Nkozi, because we have to score if we want to go to the next level. But again I credit boys because they were playing against defending champions.” Says Sulaiman Bbosa, Nkumba University head coach.
