Pepsi UFL: Gagganga Strike Gives UCU Huge Hope for Final

Uganda Christian University skipper, Gagganga Geofrey scored in second half to salvage a point for his side against MUBS in the semifinal fixture honored at MUBS Arena Nakawa on Thursday.
Sudhir Bin Saidi first handed the hosts an early lead in only two minutes of first half but the said could not defend their important goal until they were leveled in the 65th minute of second half.
The two time champions, MUBS had the control of the game in the first 45 minutes but they were over power in second stanza.
After the introduction of Tenywa Derrick and Mutebi Ivan in the opening minutes of second half, UCU gained the control of the game and in the 65th minute they scored equalizer through Gagganga Geofrey.
It was a well constructed move from the midfield, Kyomuhendo Peter laid it to Abiti Harry who dodged Lasu Thomas on by line to square the ball in box, Tenywa Derrick with a zero pass that found well positioned Gagganga who faked the blackline and goalkeeper before curling the ball at the far lower post to make it count for the visitors.
In the following minutes, UCU squandered a lot of chances that would put MUBS totally out of the calculations.
“Yes we missed a lot of chances” Gagganga conceded after the match. “That’s the game of football, some chances are converted some not but we shall rectify when we go back home”
Despite conceding a goal at home, MUBS tactician, Kasozi William is convinced that his side can also score on the road and even win the game.
“We conceded a silly goal but I believe we still have a chance to score at their home and even winning it.” Kasozi said.
The return leg will be held next week on 28, March 2024 at UCU Mukono Campus playground.
The league will resume on Tuesday next week when Nkumba University will be playing against St Lawrence University or Kampala University.
