Pepsi UFL: Bugema Completes a Double over Struggling Unik In Eight Goal Thriller

The East Africa University games defending champions, Bugema University continues to prove that they are among the sides to beat in the 11th edition of the Pepsi University Football League.

The side has completed an eight goal thriller double against the struggling University of Kisubi following a 3-0 win on road at Kisubi Entebbe on Monday afternoon.

The on form Isaac Ssenyunja had a brace on the day and Sulaiman Ali went on the score sheet as Medhi Nyanzi coached side dominating the imbalance tie.

From the opening fixture, Bugema never gave the hosts any respect, they searched for their second away goal from the first minute and the hosts were on back foot until they swallowed one for the first stanza in the 37th minute. It was Isaac Ssenyunja who handed the visitors a lead through a far post header.

Before Isaac gifted Bugema University a lead, Julius Kibukuna had to make a classic save to a Bukenya deflected ball that came in the box from a low cross from the right flank. 

First stanza ended when Bugema is in a 1-0 lead.

Isaac Ssenyunja completed his brace and the third against Unik in two encounters, the goal came only seven minutes into second stanza.

The Jessey Lukoki coached side had no dangerous attacks that could yield at least a consolation in second stanza but their best player on the pitch, Kibukuna Julius, the custodian was the busiest player for Unik, he also had a recommendable save in the 66th minute, he denied Elakas Moses to go on score sheet on the day with a reflex that pushed the latter’s 30 yard strike to kiss  the crossbar.

However, even his 84th other world class save couldn’t stop Bugema to score their third of the day in the 86th minute which was converted by Sulaiman Ali.

The win moved Bugema University to nine points in four played games, putting them on top of the table of group A as they wait for the results from Kabale University, Uganda Martyrs University game set to be played tomorrow, Tuesday in Kabale.

Out of the remaining two fixtures, Bugema only need one win to secure their place at quarters.

University of Kisubi are still in search for their first point this season.
