‘Debate alone’, Opposition MPs for 3rd Consecutive Time Storm out of Parliament

On Wednesday, the Members of Parliament at the opposition wing stormed out of Parliament for the third time in a row.

Today they have again stormed out after the Leader of Opposition, Rt. Hon. Mathias Mpuuga raised a matter of concern about MPs security after detecting unknown people and drone vehicles at Parliament.

Mpuuga brought to the attention of deputy speaker Thomas Tayebwa that parliament had been invaded by unknown security personals.

The said uniformed and plain clothed security was both inside the premises and outside parliament.

Further more the opposition walked out of parliament in protest of the speaker denying them space on the order paper to debate security violation of human rights, illegal arrest and torture of National Unity Platform supporters.

However in reply, the deputy speaker Tayebwa said that the sergeant at arms at parliament had informed him that the deployment was done by Kampala metropolitan police and he was not responsible.

This is not the first time, the security officials are invading Parliament and the most prominent one is that of 2018 when they injured most of the Opposition Members of Parliament who were against the amendment of age limit removal bill presented by Hon. Raphael Magyezi.
