Netball Super League: Weyonje, KCCA Perfectly Resume as NIC Continues To Maintain Unbeaten Run
Over the weekend, the Uganda Netball Super League resumed for second round with four enticing encounters at Weyonje Grounds-Kibuli.
The match day ten hosts, Makindye Weyonje Netball Club believes that they can open a new chapter in the league to stop National Insurance Corporation Netball Club dominance, they recorded their biggest win of the season by beating struggling KBK side 81-20, the result that helped them to maintain their third position on the log with now 16 points, three behind the leaders (NIC).
The opening fixture on the day, saw Fred Mugerwa coached side, KCCA comfortably beat UPDF 74-39 and the Garbage collectors maintained their spot, on the day KCCA benched so if it’s best players, the likes of Shaffie Nalwanja, Shadia Nassanga but found no hurdle of hammering UPDF.
“At KCCA we believe everyone is a star and capable of playing against any team once given chance.” KCCA NC skipper, Irene Eyaru commenting about the changes in starting team.
“We had to come very strong in our first game of second round to show other teams that we are serious with the trophy.
We had challenges in first round but we tried to rectify them, now we are training as a team. “
NIC, the reigning Champions proved to be the side not ready to drop any point this second round, they beat Police 61-39 to maintain their top seat with 19 points.

Prison NC beat struggling Posta NC by 69-30 in the last game of the day.
The results meant that Posta remains the only side in the league with no single point while Prison maintain it’s second position with only one point separating them with the table leaders.
On top scorers log, Weyonje’s Asinah Kabendela tops the table with 389 goals followed by NIC’s sharp shooter, Stella Oyella with 296 and Specioza Namukose of Police who has 275 goals.



The league will return to action on Wednesday with three games, UCU will be playing against UPDF, KCCA playing Posta and KBK will be hosting NIC.
