Netball Super League: Garbage Collectors Take Prison Girls To City Hall as NIC Humbles Luweero to Confirm Title Defense

The longest season for Uganda Netball Women’s Super League that started in May 2021 has left with one match day to find it’s climax.

Kampala Capital City Authority Netball Club had a perfect revenge against Prison Netball Club when they beat them by two goals in the match day seventeen fixture honored today at Weyonje Grounds-Kibuli. The game that started at 11:30am ended 44-42 in favor of the garbage collectors.

With this game, Imelda Nyongesa coached side has Christine Namulumba to blame, the goal shooter who failed to convert the leveler towards the dieing minutes and yet the center was for Prisons.

 

“We are really very happy about today’s win, at their home we lost to them by one goal, that game hurt us, so today we came all out to beat them and also to go second on log, at least to call it a season. ” Shaffie Nalwanja, the KCCA NC captain told this website.

The Mugerwa Fred coached side moved second on log with 28 points, in 17 games played, thy are left with only one game to call it a season and thy are hosting Ugx Luweero on Wednesday 23, March, 2022 at Weyonje Grounds-Kibuli.

“The first round costed us, we lost two games which disturbed our season plans, and even towards the end that first round the small squad we have got four injuries, so have been jungling the season with only nine players, that also affected us but next season, we are going to add more players. ” Said Mugerwa Fred, the KCCA tactician.

Earlier on the day, Weyonje NC beat UCU 52 to 38 to maintain their fourth position now with 26 points, two behind Prisons who have 28.

UPDF registered their fifth win of the season after beating reluctant Police Netball Club by 50-48 in the second last game of the day.

The 66-21 comfortable win against Ugx Luweero, confirmed NIC as the 2021/22 UNF Netball Super League Champions now at 32 points, which means that evenif they lose their last game against Prison, no club reach the former in points.

The UNF Super League season climaxes on Wednesday next week with five games on card at the same venue, Weyonje Grounds-Kibuli.
