Netball: She Cranes Taste the Hardness of The Rock in Build Up Match

As they are getting ready for the forthcoming two important tournaments next month, the Uganda National Netball Women’s team, She Cranes had their first build up match against The Rock yesterday at Old Kampala Arena.

The game that started at 1540hrs saw the She Cranes falling to the Rock by nine goals following a 41-32 final score.

The Rock, since they are men, they displayed a game of great physic and speed but She Cranes tried to match them which strength the Mugerwa’s coached side.

In an interview with this website, Fred Mugerwa, the newly hired tactician for the Queens of East and Central Africa, revealed that a friendly match against men is so important to his side and it has helped him to trace the weak points in his team.

Yes the game has been good, such games helps the team to identify where the weak points are, and how can they be solved.

Of course men a very energetic and speedy girls can’t match them that why every ball that entered our D had to go in but that can be solved when the Midfield doesn’t allow the balls to reach our area. ” Said Mugerwa.

We are going to work on those simple challenges and tactics, I expect to have another friendly match on Friday an after that match, I will be trimming my team. “

Stella Oyella, the current National team captain revealed that the game helps them to be more strong, and accurate.

The men are speedy, very strong, so they help us also to try match their speed and accuracy.

Their game makes you to be sober and hard, so we picked positives from the game and going back to work on those small, small errors we made today. ” Stella Oyella.

Uganda is getting prepared for the Pent Series and Netball Africa Championship to be held next month in Namibia.
