Netball Partnership: King Ceasor University Bails Out She Cranes Ahead of International Test Series

The based high level of learning Institution, King Ceasor University bailed Uganda Netball Federation and secured 15 tickets for She Cranes ahead of the International test series in Great Britain.

For early preparations for the 2023 Netball World Cup to be held in Cape Town, South Africa, Uganda secured international test series for She Cranes in Great Britain.

The offer from England was welcomed with both hands by Uganda Netball governing body however, Middle the journey, the federation reached the moment of not facilitating the trip due to delayed funds from the government.

Not to miss the chance and breach of contract signed with Netball England, Federation through its Marketing department had to find all ways to facilitate the team to England and they landed at King Ceasor University, the institution that never hesitated but bought fifteen tickets for She Cranes.

While unveiling the partnership in the press briefing held at  UNF office at Aga Khan Building, Old Kampala, the federation president Hon. Sarah Babirye Kityo revealed that they are to work with King Ceasor until December 2023.

“King Ceasor came at an opportune time we wanted the support, we signed a contract with Netball England but with a clause that if we fail to honor the invitation, we shall be paying them £150,000.

The government accepted to fund us but as you know it’s a new financial year, and government things sometimes delay, we reached at King Ceasor in just one day and they bailed us out with 15 tickets for players and officials, so I take this opportunity to thank them and promise that we are ready to work with them and give them the possible visibility.” Said UNF president Babirye Kityo Sarah.

King Ceasor representative and the Secretary of the University, Mr. Ssekandi Gonzaga revealed to press as to why on short notice they came on board to partner with the netball federation and She Cranes.

“King Ceasor University was offered an opportunity to partner with Netball Federation, the opportunity we welcomed with both hands, it a great honor for a local University to work with the national team. Like the president has stated , our partnership with the national team will run until December 2023 but again at the tail end of our contract we shall sit again and discuss further. ” Noted Ssekandi Gonzaga Kironde, King Ceasor University secretary.

The other benefits come with the partnership, every academic, the University will offer five scholarships to netballers.

At the same event, She Cranes was flagged off to England and the team in setting off on Monday night for seven test series in Northern Ireland, Wales, England and Scotland.
