Netball: Men’s National Team Gets a Money Big Spender as Patron

The National Netball Men’s Team that is soon traveling to South Africa for an invitation tournament has landed on amazing news of getting a Patron.

For almost ten years, this team has been inactive but the leadership of Hon. Sarah Babirye Kityo in the Uganda Netball Federation has wakened the game in men and on Sunday the news came out that Babirye and her executive endorsed an Educationalist, Sports man, His Emelitas Al Hajji Professor Badru Ddungu Kiggundu Kateregga as the men’s team Patron.

The President in a company of her Vice President Administration, Brig. Gen. Flavia Byekwaso, Vice Technical, Richard Muhumuza, General Secretary, Aminah Mande and other executive members, they paid a courtesy visit to Prof. Kateregga’s home in Buziga Kampala over the weekend to appreciate him for supporting the game and even to hand him the Federation’s four-year strategic plan.

The main reasons for our visit is to thank the family of Professor Katerega for his role in mentoring the girl child as well as his contribution towards the game of Netball in the country” said Sarah Babirye Kityo.

In the same line, the Federation requested Prof. Who owns a Male Netball team, Kampala University NC to accept to be the National team Patron.

Professor Kateregga gladly accepted to assume the responsibility of being the Men’s National Netball Team’s patron and honoured the request of the executive.

He thanked the Federation for remembering and acknowledging the senior stakeholders in the game.

Am so happy that the Federation has honoured my contribution towards the sport of netball in the country. I therefore promise to offer my support to the sport when required.” He said.

Prof. Badru Kateregga, the proprietor of Kampala University Original, that has at least six campuses in East Africa, he invested a lot in sports sector, He has clubs in football, in name of Kampala University FC, featuring in FUFA organized leagues, has a male Netball Team and his University engage in all organized University Sports.
