Netball Fast5 World Series: She Cranes Starts Preparations
With few days to the throw off of the Fast5 World Series Netball tournament in New Zealand, Uganda’s National Team, the She Cranes commences preparations.
The tournament is set to throw off on 4th November 2022 at Christchurch Arena in New Zealand and it will run for three days.
On Tuesday, She Cranes started a five days non residential training at Kamwokya Community Sports Centre.
Seven out of the 12 summoned players reported for training.
Fred Mugerwa Tabale, She Cranes head coach revealed what they are targeting in the tournament that Is slated for 4th to 6th November 2022 in Christchurch Arena New Zealand. He also told this website what he has started with in the training.
“Today we have started our five days non residential training at Kamwokya” He confirmed to this website. “We are supposed to have ten players here but seven reported, the other two didn’t come because they are with the team that traveled to Tanzania and the other one had issues at her work place but I expect them to report tomorrow (Wednesday).”
“ Today we started with going through the fast five rules, how the centre pass is taken, we had to go through them because this is the first time these girls are playing this tournament and in the evening, we trained and much emphasis was on how we score goals for two points.”
“Yes, our target is to see that we rub shoulders with those nations we call big, I got time and watched previous fast five games but we can handle those teams and we are going to disappoint some.”
This is the first time Uganda is taking part in this tournament because it’s her first time again to be in top six world ranked nations that qualify to feature in this tournament.
The team is expected to travel on Sunday 30th October with nine players and Mary Nuba will join them while in New Zealand.
The tournament has six nations, that is; Uganda, South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia and Jamaica.
