Netball Elections 2021: Sarah Kityo Returns Papers, Promises to Uplift the Game to Standard

The former Buganda Youth Member of Parliament Hon. Sarah Babirye Kityo today, Friday returned her nomination papers with required documents to the Netball Electoral Commission at UOC offices Lugogo-Kampala.

Hon. Babirye is vying for the post of president in the forthcoming Uganda Netball Federation elections.

At around 11:30am, the Hon. Sarah Babirye and her organized team, Brig. Gen. Flavia Byekwaso arrived at Lugogo to submit in their documents and the EC chairperson,Annet Nakamya received all the papers and passed the nominees to progress with their campaigns and other programs.

Immediately after returning her papers to EC, Hon. Sarah Babirye Kityo had time with media and gave a sample what she is intending to do for the game of Netball in Uganda.

“We feel proud to be number Seven in the world but we think we can do better than that, but one of the ways to do that best is to build the home for this Ladies’ game, if we have a home and a strong Secretariat that will look into all these issues, we shall make it.

You can’t talk about Lady and you dont think about a home.

We think about bringing Netball right away from the grassroots, you can’t talk about Netball and looking at only Kampala and surrounding areas, there so many talents in villages, we are planning to have those grassroots leagues, we think of having infrastructures, I mean you can’t talk of Netball and you even don’t have a min Stadium that can accommodate 1000 fans.

With 5M or 35M you can construction a min Stadium if at all you have land” Sarah speaking.

The biggest challenge with Netball currently is income to facilitate the federation activities but Sarah says that,it’s easy to source for funds but it needs good packaging.

“Netball is a game know for Ladies, and you know women are favored, it’s all about packaging and presenting the product.

Have we ever tried to reach at these companies dealing with women products, have we ever sold them our products and what they can get in return in the partnership with us?

So that will be easy, if it’s well packaged, Netball will not always be crying for money from government.” The ambitious former legislator asserted.

On president’s post, Sarah is contesting against Christine Nampijja and She Cranes manager, Joyslin Uchanda.

Brig. Gen. Byekwaso the UPDF spokesperson also in Babirye’s camp, returned the forms for Vice president administration plus others.
