Ministry of Health Lifts Lockdown In Another Phase As COVID-19 Cases Nears 15000

Uganda government and ministry of Health, lifted lockdown and loosen knots on some activities despite the COVID-19 cases increase in the country.

In the press conference held on Monday evening in Kampala, Health Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng revealed that government has put in considerations of phased lifting of the lockdown in the country.

In the previous phase of lifting of the lockdown, government allowed sports activities to resume, and worship centres but not exceeding 70 people but in today’s address, Aceng asserted that the mass gathering for prayers, political rallies, meetings and weddings can surpass 70 people but not exceeding 200.

Government of Uganda considerations for phased lifting of the lockdown.

– Mass gatherings for prayers,political rallies,meetings and weddings shall not exceed 200 persons.” Aceng while addressing media.

The other areas that are given green light to resume, include open cinemas, gyms, massage parlors and mobile markets and these are to effectively commence on 14th November 2020.

However, Bars, discotheques shall remain closed while Casinos, gaming outlets have a chance to resume if they fulfil all the Standard operation procedures and guidelines of ministry of healthy.

” Considering the phase of the epidemic Uganda is in, with rising cases and deaths in urban areas, suspension on bars and discotheques will continue.

 Casinos and gaming outlets may resume operations after fulfilling conditions included in the SOPs beginning 14.11.2020.
Hours of operation will be restricted to 6:30am to 7pm.”

The cumulative cases for COVID-19 now at 14,574 while deaths reached at 133.

“Results of COVID-19 tests done on 08 November 2020 confirm 171 new cases. The cumulative cases are now 14,574.

According to ministry of Healthy, the other bans not mentioned stand as they have been before.
