Meywa Farouq Calls on FUFA to Intervene in SC Villa Electoral Process

SC Villa presidential aspirant Hajji Meywa Farouq has asked the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) to urgently intervene in the club’s electoral process, citing lack of a roadmap and legitimacy concerns within the current leadership.
Speaking during the launch of his manifesto on Tuesday, Meywa stressed the need for online registration to allow both local and diaspora supporters to participate in the club’s elections.
“We need an online registration such that everyone in the country and outside the country can register. Some people might not be able to go to East High School. You can’t expect big Villa supporters like the Deputy Speaker or the Buganda Prime Minister, Charles Peter Mayiga, to go there. With online registration, it becomes easy for them,” Meywa said.
Meywa, a former SC Villa player, further revealed that his camp has given FUFA seven days to clarify the situation at the club, arguing that the mandate of the current management expired in November last year.
“We are requesting FUFA to intervene in the matters of SC Villa within seven days. Elections are in March, just a month away, but there is no roadmap. Villa currently doesn’t have legitimate management. So I ask myself, who does FUFA communicate with in terms of a FUFA–club relationship?” Meywa added.
He noted that the main objective of the gathering was to unveil his manifesto, which he says will guide his leadership should he assume the presidency.
“Today, we are mainly here to launch our manifesto that we shall use to lead Villa once we take over the presidency of the club,” he said.
Supporting Meywa’s stance, Sultan Hakim, a member of Team Bikolwa, called on FUFA to compel SC Villa authorities to release the electoral roadmap and organize the elections.
“FUFA should come and force their member to release the roadmap. We want them to organise the elections,” Sultan stated.
Sultan also disclosed that Team Bikolwa has established a fully functional office in Old Kampala, which he says will serve the club regardless of the election outcome.
“As Villa, we don’t have an office, but as Team Bikolwa, we have established one here in Kampala. We have secured it for four years. Whether we win or lose, the office will remain and any executive committee that comes into leadership will use it,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Meywa unveiled his countrywide mobilisation tour, starting with Masaka on Wednesday where he plans to open a regional office, before proceeding to Mukono and Kazo.
Meywa is seeking to unseat incumbent president Hajji Omar Mandela, with his camp insisting that FUFA should preside over the SC Villa elections to ensure transparency and credibility.
