Masaza Cup 2022: Match Day Two Round Up

The match day two of the 2022 Masaza cup climaxed on Sunday with nine games played and fifteen goals scored. 

The all time champions [five times]  Gomba Lions got on the winning ways with a 2-0 victory against Kooki in a Bulange group encounter honored at Kabulasoke Playgrounds on Sunday.

Tonny Kiberu and Kenneth Kimera scored the two goals for the record Masaza Cup winners who came into the game back of a 1-0 defeat to Buwekula in their first group game.

Still in the same group, 2021 runners up Buwekula edged three time champions Mawokota 1-0 at Buwama Playgrounds, thanks to a Martin Nsubuga only strike.

Frank Mulindwa’s charges beat Gomba in their opening group game and have now recorded back to back wins.

Peter Kiggundu and Joseph Kizza inspired Kyadondo to a 2-0 victory over Buluuli at Mwererwe Playground.

Kyadondo suffered a 1-0 defeat to Ssingo in their first Masengere Group game last week.

The Saturday games, saw reigning champions, Buddu beat Buvuma 2-0 at Masala Recreation Ground, on form Bruno Bunyaga and Vianey Bukenya were on target for Buddu to remain on the agenda of defending the title for the first time.

On road, Butambala managed to beat Kabula 2-1 and the former’s goals came from Mathias Busulwa and Samuel Kalyango while the latter’s only goal was scored by Shakuru Lubega.

Mawokota at home suffered a defeat against 2018 champions Ssingo and it was only Amuli Mukasa on target on the day, Ssese had a win at home against struggling Busujju as beating Bugerere 2-0 at Ssentema.

The action will return next weekend at different grounds with match day three.
