Masaza Cup 2020: Mawogola, Butambala Given A Second Chance
On Monday, 09th November 2020, while at Bulange Mengo- Kampala, the draws for Masaza Cup 2020 editon were held but with sixteen counties not 18 as it used to be.
However, the other counties which were not included in the groups threw in their complaints and yesterday, the Chairman Organizing Committee Hajji Sulaiman Sejjengo met with them and the committee handed them a green light.
Among the three which were left out, two managed to attending that meeting and they are Butambala and Mawogola but Busujju did not show up.
“We have been sharing ideas and guidelines of this tournament according to COVID-19 with the members who did not attend our first meeting.
Our friends from these other three counties explained to us why they did not attend the first meeting and we accepted to give them a chance to see that we move together because it’s like there was like some miss communication but the committee and them.” Sulaiman Sejjengo said.
The Mawogola vice chairman administration, who doubles as the team’s marketing and Sponsorship explained as to why they did not attend the first meeting.

“Mawogola is a big team, and an important county in the kingdom of Buganda, we had unavoidable challenges and our Chairman failed to turn up but the following day we tried to sort it out, that’s why we are here now.
We are a big team, we have one of the experienced coaches, in Simon Ddunga, so our fans should expect better from the team.” Uthman Kateregga told media.
Manager Butambala cited that it’s miss communication between our Chairman and the Committee, that’s how they failed to attend the Monday meeting.
“Maybe there was miss communication between our chairman and the committee but good enough our Chief (Katambala) made an important call to the committee. It would very absurd for such a big team in miss in the tournament, because you saw how we performed last year and we still have all our players.” Kiyemba Ronald, Butambala Team Manager revealed.
Now it’s upon the committee to determine these counties(Masaza) shall fall according to already drafted groups.
The tournament which will kick off on 12th December at Njeru Technical Center, will be officially launched on 24th November 2020 at Bulange Gardens, Mengo.
