The evolution of technology in Uganda has taken another level, besides Kiira Motor Manufacturing Company that’s making electric buses, gas companies have started gifting their customers with personal electric vehicles in a bid to conserve environment in the country.

On Wednesday, the 25th July 2024, Mandela Group via their free electric car give away promo that ran for almost a year, have gifted the first two lucky winners.

John Bosco Mugisha and a one Florence based in Mbale were the maiden winners.

John Bosco Mugisha, the lucky winner

“I didn’t see this coming, I never expected to win, when they called me, thought they are bafere(conmen) because this is Kampala, since my office is near here, I decided to come but with my son, such if anything not good happens to me, he can take the news back home, but I am very happy that I am the lucky winner, I thank Mandela Group for giving back to us, because i bought the tyres for my safety.” Said John Bosco Mugisha, one of the winners

To win, each of the two bought Linglong tyres at City Oil Nakawa branch to enter the draw.

Despite being an environmental conserver and protector, these cars are cost cutting sice they don’t use fuel.

“We can’t stop or stand in the evolution of technology, as Mandela Group we always want to keep our clients happy with new evolution of technology and even to give back to them.” Said Richard Wandawa Technical Director Mandela Group.

“Apart from these cars being environment conservers, they are cost cutting because they don’t use fuel, we have started with these but in our next promotion we shall have those which are more friendly to our roads more than these.” He added

This car when fully charged, it covers a distance of more than 300KM. When charged at home, it takes 8 hours to full battery.

However, City Oil and the government of Uganda have started the establishment of charging centers across the country.

The powerful facilities like one established at City Oil Kamwokya take only 30 minutes to full charge.

During the first draw at City Oil Kira Road, Linglong was represented by the company Vice president Aaron Xu and Kathy Kao the Africa Sales and Marketing director.

Mandela Group of Companies was represented by Ahmed Yasir (director) and CEO Venkatesh Kumar.

The draw was conducted by former Motorsport president Dusman Okee and former Vision Group CEO Robert Kabushenga.
