Man In Wakiso Dies of Hunger With less than 36 hours to Nabbanja’s Ka Money

A 41 year old, Justus Sempa, a resident of Entebbe, Wakiso District alleged to have died of hunger with less than three days to Nabbanja’s money.

The residents of Kawafu cell at Abaita Ababiri, Katabi Town Council in Wakiso district, on Sunday, 4th July woke up in shock after finding their fellow resident in names of Justus Sempa died from his room.

The Area LC 1 chairperson Mr Daniel Makoba said the deceased, a single father of two boy children has been a cobbler in the area moving from home to home mending shoes.

“Ever since the lockdown was put in place, people were stopped from moving to other peoples homes, he has not been able to move to residences so he has not been earning money to feed himself and his two boys” the chairperson told Informer.

The deceased’s land lord Mr Sam Kavubu said the deceased recently lost consciousness due to starvation since he didn’t have food and was only saved by a neighbor who offered him milk which he drunk and stabilized.

Kavubu said he last checked on the deceased on Friday night as he was going to bathe and he was alive and well but was shocked when in the morning, one of the sons’ who stayed with the father went to his home and told his wife of his father’s passing.

The area councilor Mr Daniel Wadimba said it was hard to attend to deceased’s corpse since they were not sure if he had succumbed to hunger or the Covid 19 outbreak.

“Ideally we have to wait for medics from the hospital and police who we have contacted to get involved in this situation” he said.

For starters, the cobblers are among the categories, the government of Uganda promised to give the 100000/- as Covid relief money in these 42 days of total lockdown.
