Land Grabbers Set Eyes On Anglican Church ‘Redundant’ Land In Busoga Region

Bugweri: Mid last year, St Peters Church in Ndeeba Kampala district was demolished claiming that the land on which it was sitting was belonging to a one, Dodo.

Land grabbing turned a daily bread in Uganda and people are not safe even if they have a land title of the land they reside on.

The same challenge hit the Busesa Archdeaconary in Central Busoga Diocese.

It has been a norm for encroachers building permanent houses on church land with a plan of grabbing it.

The chairman of Land and Estates in Busesa Archdeaconary, Nkulega Steven, warned all those planing to grab church land, they should know that it has a land title and they encroach on it at their own risk.

“People want to grab church land, pretending that they don’t know that it belongs to Church. Many have encroached on Nsaale, Lubira and Buwooya with a plan of grabbing it from church.” Exclusively Nkulega told this website.

“Today I am talking about Busesa land where we have our head quarter, people have started encroaching on this land too, started to construct permanent houses on it but I am warning them that we have its land title, and we won the Court case about this land which was taken to Jinja Court. And in two weeks from now, we shall be with Court injunction on this land.” Chairman Nkulega explained.
