Kampala Regional League: Katereke Returns to Winning Ways, Defeats Poor Performing Bweyogerere

Katereke New Life 2-0 Bweyogere FC

Katereke New Life beat Bweyogerere FC with goals in either halves at Nakivubo Blue Primary on Saturday 16 December 2023 to return to winning ways after three games victory dry.

Trevor Bbaale and goal scoring machine, Miod Aksam scored the two goals that secured Katereke New Life victory over poor performing Bweyogerere FC.

Trevor Bbaale converted through a spot kick won by Shafik Kaweesi in 44th minute of the game for the host’s Opener.

Katereke New Life went in comfort zone when Miod Aksam returned on score sheet after receiving Shafik Kaweesi’s pass with chest control and smashed into low corner just 11 minutes to final whistle.

“It’s such an important win for the team and it is a turning point for us, it has been very hard spell for us, lost three games in the row.” Said Katereke forward, Miod Aksam

“I have not been scoring through those games Alhamdulillah am back on the score sheet” he added.

The forward who has started to attract interests from some top flight clubs scored his eighth goal of the season in 8 games.

However, in their previous fixture against CATIDA, Miod played as a goalkeeper.

Coach Abby Kavuma who wasn’t surprised with a win, asserted that his team is getting better with the return of some players who have been in sick bay.

“Alhamdulillah we have pulled another win after a spell but we would have been better if not the injuries we have been having, some players are back which is a huge motivation in term of winning, now we have to push for a good winding up of the first round” Abbey Kavuma, Katereke tactician revealed.

A win pushed Katereke New Life back to third place as they wait to see how Wembley FC and Mutungo United will perform with Mutungo on a possible gap to go past Katereke New Life if they win.

Bweyogerere FC stayed below red line with 5 points from 8 games.
Both teams are set to get back to action on Thursday in Stanbic Uganda Cup preliminary round.
