Health: Uganda To Receive COVID-19 Vaccine Mid Next Year- Judith Nabakooba

The COVID-19 spread is at level four where the contact of the contacts can’t be traced and this is the critical stage of the virus.

A number of scientists managed to come up with different versions and vaccine types, of course not in Uganda and in first world countries like America and United Kingdom, they have started immunising their citizens.

Last week, World Health organisation (WHO) revealed that they are to ship at least two billion COVID-19 vaccine doses to different nations.

The Minister of ICT and National guidance, Hon. Judith Nabakooba in her press statement released on Sunday 20, December, 2020, indicated that Uganda may receive her first batch of the vaccine in either May or June next year 2021.

“Uganda expects to obtain the first batch of #COVID19Vaccine by May or June 2021. Priority will be given to frontline medical workers, the elderly & people with existing health conditions.” Nabakooba.

Judith also appealed to the masses to take extra care unto their lives and those of their loved ones as we are in festive season.

“As you head out to celebrate Christmasmas keep safe by following SoP’s issued by ministry of health.”

Nabakooba added that the treatment for COVID-19 is very expensive especially when you happen to go in Intensive care Units of private hospitals, she said that the cost per day ranges from five million to eight to which an ordinary Ugandan can’t afford and the chances of survival are less than 50%.

Uganda’s cumulative COVID-19 registered cases sum up to over 30000 cases and deaths are over 230.
