Man United Fans Uganda FC player and team representative Bruno Kayongo, popularly known as Kayongo Fashions, has called on Manchester United supporters across Uganda to turn up in large numbers at HAMZ Stadium, Nakivubo War Memorial, this Saturday as his side takes on Titans FC in the HAMZ Cup Round of 16.

Speaking during a media meet-up on Tuesday, September 22, Kayongo urged the club’s supporters to fill the stadium as the Man United Fans team targets a place in the quarterfinals.

“I call on every Man United fan that this Saturday is a big day for the Uganda fans club. Come in big numbers and fill this stadium as we back our team to secure the last quarterfinal place of the HAMZ Cup tournament,” Kayongo said.

The fixture is expected to attract a big crowd, with fans also set to witness a FUFA Women Super League encounter between URA FC Women and Makerere University earlier in the day.

According to Kayongo, the day’s programme will begin with the women’s league game at 4pm before the HAMZ Cup clash kicks off at 7:00pm, with entrance for both matches set at Shs5,000.

“It is a big day because the entrance will be open in the morning, starting with a Women’s Super League game between URA FC Women and Makerere University at midday, then our game at 7:00pm. For both games, the entrance fee is Shs5,000,” he added.

In preparation for Saturday’s decisive encounter, Man United Fans Uganda FC played a build-up match against Uganda Premier League side Express FC on September 22 at HAMZ Stadium.

The match ended 3-2 in favour of Express FC, giving the fans’ side a final competitive test ahead of their Round of 16 assignment.

Man United Fans FC will put their unbeaten run in the HAMZ Cup on the line against Titans FC, with the winner advancing to the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, HAMZ Cup tournament coordinator Hakim Kasirye said preparations for the competition remain on course, with the tournament continuing to attract impressive crowds.

Kasirye said the organisers have fulfilled the promises made by businessman Hajj Hamis Kiggundu through their immediate bosses Rogers Mulindwa and HAMZ Stadium manager Ashiraf Turyatunga.

“As Hajj Hamis Kiggundu promised through our immediate bosses Rogers Mulindwa and Stadium Manager Ashiraf Turyatunga, every promised prize is already in place and we are just waiting for the big day,” Kasirye said.

He also highlighted the growing battle among teams for the tournament’s biggest supporter following, with Man United Fans FC, TikTok FC and Sanyu D Bags among the teams attracting significant crowds.

“One of the exciting battles remains between teams with the most supporters. This keeps improving game by game, with Man United Fans hugely contesting with TikTok FC and Sanyu D Bags. The race is still open and any other team can possibly join the contest,” Kasirye added.

The Round of 16 stage is nearing completion, with only two fixtures remaining.

Best of the Best will be in action on Thursday, September 24, before Man United Fans FC face Titans FC on Saturday.

Six teams have already secured their places in the quarterfinals: TikTok FC, Block F, Born Talents FC Mbuya, Kafumbe United, Nurmak Life Team and Tororo Boys.
