Goals Flow as USSSA Boys National Championship Roars to Life in Lira

The 2026 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association Boys National Football Championship officially burst into life in Lira with thrilling opening day action producing goals, surprises and dominant performances across different venues.

Hosts Lira Town College endured a disappointing start after falling 3-1 to Numasa Secondary School, while giants Kyadondo Secondary School, Ssingo Secondary School and Buddo Secondary School all opened their campaigns with important victories.

Kyadondo SS edged Kigumba Intensive Secondary School 2-1 in a tightly contested encounter as Ssingo SS comfortably brushed aside Bishop Comboni College 3-0 to signal their title intentions early.

There were goals galore in the morning games as Masindi Secondary School thrashed Kaserem Secondary School 6-2, while Greenlight Islamic School hammered Dr. Obote College 5-1.

Kicwamba High School secured a narrow 1-0 victory against Bwera Secondary School, whereas Madinah Islamic Secondary School were held to a goalless draw by Kitgum Standard High School.

Elsewhere, Kitara Secondary School defeated Ngora High School 2-1 to cap off an exciting opening morning.

In the mid-morning fixtures, Buddo SS proved too strong for Teso College Aloet with a 2-0 victory, while Agape Secondary School delivered one of the performances of the day after demolishing Makobore High School 6-1.

Ibanda Secondary School shocked Mengo Secondary School 2-0, as Bukedea Comprehensive School South cruised to a 4-1 win over PP Newton Secondary School.

The tournament continues later in the day with several heavyweight clashes lined up, including St. Mary’s Secondary School Kitende taking on Bukedea Comprehensive School North, while Kawempe Muslim Secondary School face London College Nansana in one of the evening fixtures.
