Apiding Cecilia scored a brace as Olila High School Ladies team thrashed Uganda Martyrs University Ladies team by a huge 4-1 scoreline, subjecting them to their second loss of the season.

The match was played on Friday 4th, November 2022 at the Soroti playground, the home of Olila High School Ladies team.

Ariokot Eunice and Biira Nadunga were the other goalscorers that cemented a deserved victory for the hosts (Olila).

Having lost four matches on the trot, it was hard for one to think that Olila would register such bright performance against the on form Lubaga-based side in Uganda Martyrs, with many saying that the best they could come out of the game with is a point.

To show determination and hunger for the win, the favorites (Martyrs) set the early pace when Brenda Munyana converted a penalty in the 15th minute of the first half to put the vistors in the lead.

However, the hosts turned up the heat and knitted dangerous and determined plays in the second half, rallying from behind to put four goals into the visitors’ net.

Biira Nadunga first levelled the matters for the hosts in the 47th minute, converting a penalty.

With Martyrs trying to hold on to get a point from the match, they set back a bit and the hosts took it as an advantage to pile pressure on the vistors resulting in Olila netting a second goal courtesy of Eunice Ariokot in the 83rd minute to put the hosts in the lead.

Olila’s second goal seemingly disorganized the Martyrs side, as they let in two more goals for the hosts in the late minutes from the same player, that is, Apiding Cecilia in the 90th and 93rd minutes respectively.

The win lifts Olila to nine (9) points and leaves Uganda Martyrs on thirteen (13) points, having now conceded thirteen (13) goals in seven games.

Elsewhere, Asiat Nalugwa and Jovia Nakagola scored the two goals as the Mukono-based side, Uganda Christian University (UCU) Lady Cardinals, defeated She MAK by a 2-1 scoreline.
