FWSL: Martyrs En Route To Soroti To Seek Win Against Olila.

Uganda Martyrs University Ladies team will honour their third away fixture on match day seven (7) of the 2022/23 FUFA Women Super League (FWSL) season as they travel a long journey to Soroti to face the hugely depleted Olila High School on Saturday 5th, October 2022 at the Soroti playground.
The side, Uganda Martyrs, have picked up three points from the two away matches they have played so far, that is, a heavy defeat against Kampala Queens and a win against Asubo Gafford Ladies.
However, Martyrs go to Soroti with a lot of smiles having won their last two consecutive matches, that is, against She MAK and Uganda Christian University Lady Cardinals, and will hope to build on that energy to fight and struggle for the three points that would push them to sixteen (16) points.
However, Martyrs will have to double their efforts given that they lost their last match against Olila by a 1-0 scoreline thanks to a left footed strike from Grace Aluka.
Nakasi Latifa, Kevin Nakacwa and Brenda Munyana are the top scorers for Uganda Martyrs, and the club will continue to pray that their scintillating form in front of goal continues.
Despite losing their last four matches, Uganda Martyrs coach still believes that the team (Olila) is good enough and his team (Martyrs) has to fight for the win.
“We have prepared well, with the team in good shape, ready to face off with Olila. Olila High School is a hard and stubborn team. In the last match we played against them, we lost, and that indicates a lot about our game with them in Soroti,” Coach Ssozi of Uganda Martyrs said.
“We have been training so hard and we have tried to improve on our attacking and defensive phases in order to get the maximum points,” Coach Ssozi added.
Latifa Nakasi, Nagadya Catherine, Namusoke Esther and Shamusa Najjuma are all doing their final exams, but have balanced it together with football, and the coach thinks that the exams have not affected their good performance on the pitch.
“Yes, I have some of my players doing their final exams, but the exams have not affected our results on the pitch, because we scheduled our trainings to evening hours in order to have them train with us. So, they are ready for the game, and we expect them to put up good performance because they are well,” Coach Ssozi noted.
On the other side, Olila will need a miracle to happen for them to pick up the much needed maximum points against the in-form Uganda Martyrs.
Olila have lost their four matches this season, that is, both at home and away from home.
The results could be attributed to the injuries in the team and the team squad depth, but the team will hope they can hold on to pick up at least a point from the game against Martyrs, having had good performances against Martyrs in previous seasons.
The two sides have met eight times, with the two sides recording three wins and two draws each.
