FWSL: Kawempe, Tooro Queens Each Earns a Point as Martyrs, Kampala Queens Register Slim Wins

The match day three of the FUFA Women’s Super League 2021/22 season came to an end this Sunday with three enticing encounters at three different venues.
At Kawempe Muslim playground (The Valley), the Valley Warriors, and Country Queens from Tooro shared points following a one all end to end draw.
Goals came in both halves with each side winning one.
Tooro Queens, the visitors had the lead in the 34th minute of the game through a hard strike by Imelda Kasemire while Kawempe got theirs through magical forward, Hadija Nandago in the other half of the game.
The Rogers Ayesiga side enjoyed the possession in the first quarter of the game though we’re not going direct to opponent’s goal mouth.
In the first stanza, though they were at home, Kawempe Muslim rarely launched successful attacks, many ended prematurely, with Resty Kobusobozi, Sumaya Komuntale and Margret Kayima blocking all the attacks.
Apart from the golden chance the Warriors got in the 20th minute, Agnes Nabukenya failed to convert, no open chance the hosts got until Imelda Kasemire caught them off foot and punishment them with 25 yard strike in the 34th minute to send the visitors into jubilation.
Nkata Moses, who was on touchline for Kawempe in the absence of Ayubu Khalifa Kiyingi who is on National team at Njeru, Introduced Phiona Nabulime and Florence Nazizi Nalumansi in second half, for his side to start at least control the game in the middle of the park.
Through a corner kick, Hadija Nandago with s simple header converted for Kawempe to level the game in the 58th minute.
The hosts tried to separate the game but Tooro was too solid for the amateur Kawempe forward to penetrate and this called for points sharing after full time.
“Playing against Kawempe at her home and get a point is something important, Kawempe is good, and we are satisfied with the point, though there were chances for us to take the win, the game was very open like you saw.. ” Ayesiga Rogers, said before adding…” Three draws in the league, we are going back and add on, we are playing against UCU at home and we believe to get our first win of the season.”
His counterpart, Nkata Moses also accepted the point he got though he wanted the game the more.
“A point is not bad, it’s better than none, the has been tough, and their were moments where each side had chance to go with three points. ” Said Nkata Moses.
” We started well the game but after conceding, the game changed but we had a talk at half time, we came back a tougher side in second half, the Introduction of Phiona Nabulime gave us more ability to go upfront and created more chances, I believe we can build on the to win out next game. “
Kawempe has only one win in three games while Tooro Queens registered her third consecutive draw.
In other fixtures, Kampala Queens on road collected maximum points off She Maroons, thanks to Margret Kunihira lone strike in the 58th minute.
Uganda Martyrs High School WFC at home needed to come from a goal down to narrowly win it at home 2-1 against resilient Olila High School WFC, experienced midfielder, Esther Naluyimba and Brenda Munyana scored for Martyrs while Olila only goal came from Grace Aluka.
UCU Lady Cardinals still tops the table with nine points after three games.
