FUFA Women’s Super League: UCU Tactician, Christian Magoba admits, They played Protective Game Against Olila

Olila High School-UCU Lady Cardinals encounter is one of the fixtures in Women topflight league that produces few goals though it’s one sided.

For the past three meetings, yesterday game inclusive, the encounter between the two has produced only three goals but UCU Lady Cardinals at the end of the day been winning the contest.

Yesterday, the only goal from Hasifah Nassuna who took her tally to 93 goals at her name was enough for the campus girls to come back home with maximum points.

Hasifah’s goal came as early as six minutes into the game and the Mukono based side defended that goal to the end.

The Magoba side went with defensive approach in the game especially in second stanza which gave the hosts that had big crowd behind them chance to press them though the hosts were not clinical enough.

With his squad of experienced players, on any day who can punish any side by two and above goals, Magoba defended his girls revealing that they were cautious not to create space for the hosts to damage them.

“We scored one goal because we didn’t make a lot of chances in the final third.” Magoba told this website. ” since we scored as early as 6 minutes , it was prudent enough to defend our lead because one is better than zero however, we shall be better in the next games.”

 “We were cautious not to create many spaces in the back …. and we did that but that gave our opponents the chance to pin us in our half especially  in second half…. but the link from defence to midfield and finally to attack was there , only that we had less numbers infront. ” Coach Mago as commonly known explained. 

As earlier mentioned, in 2019 when they last went to Soroti, UCU Lady Cardinals beat Olila 1-0 courtesy of Hasifah Nassuna and the goal came in the 9th minute, in 2021, while at Njeru, Olila lost to UCU again by a goal to none, thanks to Shadia Nankya long range free kick.

UCU Lady Cardinals who sits second on the log of ten will be hosting newcomers, She Maroons on Saturday at UCU Grounds Mukono while Olila will remain at home waiting for Rines SS on Sunday next week.
