FUFA Women’s Super League 2021: Kayiira Jackson’s Best XI
Lady Doves FC confirmed as the 2021 FUFA Women’s Super League tourney Champions after beating UCU Lady Cardinals 2-1 on final held at Njeru Technical Center on Wednesday afternoon.
Ofcourse the Masindi based side are now the Champions and going to represent Uganda in the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers in Kenya in mid July this year.
However, it’s not the only side with the best performers in the league, Kayiira Jackson, our reporter who exclusively covered the tourney to the dot compiled his best eleven players from over 160 that took part in the tournament that was concluded yesterday.
The Kayiira Jackson’s team will use a 4-3-3 system;
Daisy Nakaziro (Goalkeeper)
No doubt, since her days at Muteesa I Royal University WFC, the Uganda Created Cranes second choice goalie proved to be a class above, she joined Lady Doves in 2017/18 season, immediately after joining them, she got the Captain’s armband and in her first season, she guided the team on two finals though they lost both of them. She came back this season, and won a title, in Njeru, Nakaziro pulled out the most saves, in six games played, she conceded only three goals and she took the golden glove, no doubt with her abilities.
Defenders
Right Back (Rebecca Nandhego)
She has played all the six games, Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC took part in this tournament, she has the calmness, no right back had stability in right back than Nandhego, she know when to pass and to clear, had good game reading, she gave hard time to all speedy winners who tested her. This has been her first season in FUFA Competitions and if well handled, Uganda has a gold in her. But Mercy Nabulobi of UCU and Aminah Babirye of She Corporates have a mention, they were also good.
Left Back (Jolly Kobusinge)
This one is a Tooro Queens skipper, she proved to be the best and intelligent left back, her leadership abilities are exceptional, her team didn’t get out of group stage but she is one for the future. Won’t be surprised if summoned for U-17 or U-20 depending on her current age.
Center Back (Shadia Nankya)
The High Tower defender, had at least two kiddish errors tht costed the team but we can’t rule out her General performance in the league, scored two crucial games that won UCU six points, and reaching on final and yet they had limited time of training as a team. In this position she beat Kawempe Muslim Ladies’ skipper, Aisha Nantongo she also had a brilliant performance.
Center Back (Gloria Namugerwa)
If there is any tournament Namugerwa had played better in her life, this is one of them. The Uganda Martyrs’ skipper rarely lost the arial duels, she was good both in air and ground, her partnership with Patience Nabulobi, ranked the best in the tournament. She has a good command, surely she deserves a credit in this tournament. Did her preps well and she come out the tournament with a goal, ranked to be the best free kick of the tourney.
Defensive Midfielder (Lydia Nyandera)
Few will agree with me but this Lady Doves FC longest serving player had most of the interceptions for Lady Doves, she has a good game reading. The fact Lady Doves had a leaking defence but the girl’s work rate made the defence look good. In my opinion, she played better than her teammate, the Tanzanian national Aziz Zuena Tembeni, Kevin Nakacwa of Martyrs’ and Josephine Ndagire of Makerere University WFC.
Attacking Midfielder (Riticia Nabbosa)
This one is the pivot of Lady Doves, the Brian mistress, game controller, she the one been determining whether the team player high tempo game or the cool on, got involved in at least 85% of Fazila Ikwaput eight goals. Even at the moment when Fazila got injured, Riticia stood tall and lift the team to the final with are stunner against Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC. None played that position better than her.
Midfielder (Hadijjah Nandago)
The senior four vacist at Kawempe Muslim SS, none in Kawempe’s squad played better upfront like Nandago, the moment when Shakirah Nyinagahirwa, Rhoda Nanziri and Sharon Nadunga were down in performance, Nandago tried to cover their void. She had one assist, scored one goal and created atleast six scoring chances. Not forgetting her moment when she put down the whole Lady Doves’ defence at Semifinal level. The girl is one for the future, no wonder, she is a starter at U-17 Women national team.
Forward (Hasifa Nassuna)
The renown Uganda’s women football G.O.A.T, this is the tournament she did not perform to her fans’ expectations but the class never separated with her, scored three goals and helped at least every department of UCU Lady Cardinals in this tournament.
Forward (Allen Nasaazi)
A senior two student at Kawempe Muslim SS, the 15-year old aggressive forward finished her maiden tournament as second top scorer with four goals, if well handled, we are having another serious goal poacher in next few years. Actually she was my best younger player of the tournament.
Forward (Fazila Ikwaput)
Eight goals in six goals, doing wonders on final, taking team to CAF Women’s Champions league qualifiers, winning the side their maiden title, the lady was exceptional. With lack of word to explain her performance, I would say, no comment.
Manager ( Jimmy Kintu)
The UCU Lady Cardinals tactician, the fact is his tactics are extraordinary, he got the team a month to tournament kick off, it was his first time to deeply get involved in coaching of women Football but he fought with the people with much experience in women’s football and only lost on final. He truly deserves a credit.

If the team of football on pitch needed 15 players like those of Rugby I would include; Ruth Aturo, Fauzia Najjemba (Kampala Queens), Aisha Nantongo (Kawempe Muslim Ladies), Noeline Namiiro (She Corporate), Josephine Ndagire.
