FUFA Women’s Elite League: Newcomers Shine As ‘Big Girls’ Disappoint on Day one
FUFA Women’s Elite league 2021 tournament commenced on Saturday at Njeru Technical Center.
Two games have been honored on the day and all the newbies in the league managed to secure maximum points in their maiden fixtures.
The first game saw Luweero Giant Queens coming from two goals down to beat Dynamic Jjeza WFC 3-2.
King of Kings beat Asubo-Gafford Ladies FC a goal to none in the closing day fixture.
Both oldbies in Elite league, Dynamic Jjeza and Asubo-Gafford Ladies FC lost opening fixtures against newcomers.
Evelyn Katusiime only goal in the 32nd minute won the game for the newcomers.
Like the underdogs, Kings knew their weakness and strength and later capitalized on Asubo-Gafford’s lack of concentration in the opening stanza and the only open chance they got, they utilized it well and sink the sleeping giants.
Asubo-Gafford Ladies tried to get back into the second half and in the last 20 minutes they scored a goal via Shakirah Mutibwa but first assistant referee called it for offside.
Now Asubo lead the bottom with no point and negative goal but their tactician Jackson Nsubuga said that his girls will bounce back better in the remaining two games and he has big hope of getting out of the group.
“We lost the game because of some technical issues but in the next games we are going to try to correct the errors as a team, because as a coach, and players, it hurts to lose your first game but we going to sort out some issues and I believe, we are going to get out of the game.” Jackson Nsubuga told Media after the game.
Ayesiga Rogers, the Kings tactician revealed that Asubo’s game is what they got prepared more because they knew it better than them, and said that the early goal helped them alot.
“The three points means a very big thing for Kings, we knowing knowing that Gafford is a very strong,they have better players with experienced and knew we had to work very hard to maintain any result we are to get.
It’s good the girls gave us a goal in first half, I told them to keep calm and close the gaps for Asubo should have used.” Ayesiga Rogers said.
Now Kings are in second point behind Luweero Giant Queens who also won their maiden game.
Tomorrow the action returns when Kings facing Luweero Giant Queens while wounded Asubo-Gafford Ladies meeting limping Dynamic Jjeza.
