FUFA Women’s Cup Quarterfinal One:
She Maroons 2-1 Olila High School WFC
The FUFA Women’s Elite league table leaders, She Maroons ended Olila High School road to Women’s Cup final road.
She Maroons came from a goal down to edge Olila High School 2-1 in a quarter final game honored at Prisons Ground in Luzira and substitute Winnie Kyomugisha scored a winner in the 82nd minute of the game.
Olila through Lotyang Mary got a lead as early as 14 minutes, She Maroons back failed to clear the ball from the danger zone, Mary picked up the ball and put it into the net with a simple press and sent the visitors into the celebrations.
The All of first stanza belonged to Cifu Pande coached side and it ended 1-0 in favor of Olila.
In the 66th minute, Babirye Anita leveled the matter where Olila’s back thought she was offside but the second assistant referee’s flag never left the ground and the goal was counted.
Substitute, Winnie Kyomugisha sealed Maroons win in the 82nd minute, she had a nice tap in that left Akite Esther helpless.
The win pushed She Maroons to semifinals and they will be facing the winner between St Noa Girls and Asubo-Gafford Ladies FC who are playing on Sunday at IUIU Kabojja playground.
It would be a blessing in disguise for the 2017 Cup winners, Olila High School. The side could have save the long route transport because this season, the draw put Olila High on road from the round of 32.
The side traveled to Kamapala on three occasions for only women’s Cup, the round of 32 game against Golden Impact, they won that game 2-0 which landed them to She Corporate before meeting She Maroons.
Remember, Olila High School WFC is a Soroti city based side.
In other fixtures of quarterfinals, St Noa Girls will be hosting on fire Asubo-Gafford Ladies FC, Makerere University will be playing against Uganda Martyrs WFC Lubaga while Kampala Queens will have a short trip to the Valley to meet Valley Warriors Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC and all the three Fixtures will be honored tomorrow, Sunday at 4PM apart from Kawempe Muslim Fixture which is at 10am.
