She Corporate Edge Kampala Queens in Five-Goal Thriller as Champions’ Slump Deepens

Kampala Queens’ struggles in the Finance Trust Women Super League worsened on Sunday after they fell 3–2 to She Corporate at the MTN Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo — their second straight defeat and the first time in club history to lose back-to-back league matches.
Coming into the Matchday Nine encounter level on 17 points, both sides played out a tense, goalless first half, though She Corporate showed greater intent and threat in the final third. But the second half quickly turned chaotic for the Queens of Soccer.
Barely a minute after the restart, defender Amangat Marion failed to clear a ball out of her area, gifting possession to the alert Jesca Namanda who curled in a superb opener into the top corner. Five minutes later, Kampala Queens were punished again for sloppy defending. Rebecca Nakato pressed high to win the ball before being fouled in the box, resulting in a penalty that Namanda coolly dispatched for her brace.
Amangat later pulled one back for Kampala Queens in the 67th minute, briefly restoring hope, but Namanda — in sensational form — completed her hat-trick just two minutes later with a classic poacher’s finish to stretch the lead to 3–1. She took her tally to seven goals this season and She Corporate’s first-ever league victory over Kampala Queens since the current league format was introduced in 2021.
Influential forward Catherine Nagadya then single-handedly dragged Kampala Queens back into the contest. Picking the ball from midfield, she slalomed past three defenders before slotting home the second goal in the 77th minute, taking her tally to six this campaign.
Head coach Asefa’s side pushed desperately for an equalizer and nearly found one through Joan Ainembabazi in the 82nd minute, but luck deserted them in front of goal.
She Corporate’s victory lifts them to second place on 20 points, five behind leaders Kawempe Muslim Ladies, who sit comfortably on 25. Kampala Queens remain on 17 points, now eight adrift of the summit — a worrying slide for a team previously regarded as perennial title contenders.
In the day’s other fixture, St. Noa Girls Secondary School and Uganda Martyrs High School settled for a 0-0 draw in a spirited schools’ derby at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
