FMU Elects New Leadership, Akena to Enjoy the top Seat

The Federation of Motorsport in Uganda (FMU) has finally elected the new leadership after a number of months while in governance grievances. 

They different factions attempted on many occasions to hold elections but all went in vein until the court gave them a green light to hold elective assembly.

On Wednesday 1 May the Federation managed to organize a successful elective assembly and UPC president , Hon. Jimmy Akena was elected to replace Dipu Rupaleria.

Akena elected over Geoffrey Kagimu and John Borros in an election held at Kati Kati restaurant Lugogo on Wednesday. 

Akena won the contest with 56 votes, Kagimu finished second with 16 votes while Barros didn’t go beyond his only vote.

On the same note, the Federation brought back Hajj Hamid Gombe as the  Vice president in charge of Motorsport safety. 

Haji Gombe won his contest over Julius Ssemwogerere who got 19 votes.

Also Arthur Blick returned back to serve as the vice president motorbike a post which he left back in 2019 after serving under Dusman Okee’s regime.

Blick got 34 votes to win over Apolot Daniella who got 11 votes and George Ssemakula who got 29 in the election.

Out of the seven elected members four were unopposed including Federation engine General Secretary no one bared to change Raymond Kibira’s hard working ethics. 

The others were Assistant General Secretary which was taken by Jackson Sserwanga, while Joshua Mayanja was unopposed for Deputy Vice president in charge of motor.

Rally as the only woman on the elected Executive Angela Ssemukuutu was unopposed for Deputy Vice president in charge of Tourism, vintage and safety. the
