Finance Trust Women Super League: Goals Galore as New Season Kicks Off in Spectacular Fashion

The 2025/26 Finance Trust Bank Women’s Super League burst into life over the weekend, treating fans across the country to thrilling action and a total of 16 goals in six electrifying matches played between Friday and Sunday, October 3rd–5th, 2025.

The curtain-raiser on Friday set the tone for what was to come, as Kawempe Muslim Ladies and defending champions Kampala Queens played out an intense 1-1 draw at the Valley Grounds in Kawempe. The hosts drew first blood through Asia Nakibuka, sending home fans into a frenzy, but the champions showed their resilience, equalizing late in the second half through Kamiyat Naigaga to ensure the spoils were shared.

Saturday’s fixtures brought no shortage of drama. At the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, She Corporates announced their intentions early in the season with a commanding 4-1 victory over Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga. Namanda Jessica led the charge with a brilliant brace, while Sandra Kisakye and Nakato Rebecca also found the net. Uganda Martyrs’ Nakinutu Nusulah scored a consolation, but the Sharks’ dominance was unquestionable.

Meanwhile, in Soroti, St. Noa Girls FC will rue their missed opportunity after conceding a stoppage-time equalizer against Shyline Opisa’s Amus College Women FC. Despite leading 1-0 for most of the game, a lapse in concentration in the final minute of the added ten saw them settle for a 1-1 draw in a gut-wrenching finish.

Sunday’s clashes continued the high-scoring trend. At Kampala Quality Grounds, newcomers Asubo Ladies FC were given a harsh welcome to topflight football, suffering a crushing 5-0 defeat at the hands of She Maroons FC. Alupo netted twice, while Lillian Mutuzo, Immaculate Kizza, and Lillian Kasubo completed the rout in a one-sided affair that showcased Maroons’ attacking prowess.

At Makerere University, the hosts left it late to snatch a dramatic 1-1 draw against Rines SS WFC. Phiona Arach had put Rines ahead, but Rebecca Nakassato’s last-gasp equalizer ensured the home side avoided defeat in front of their jubilant fans.

In Masindi, Lady Doves and Olila High School fought to a goalless stalemate at Katushabe Grounds, rounding off an action-packed opening weekend that saw moments of brilliance, heartbreak, and hope in equal measure.

As the dust settles, fans can only anticipate more actions in the weeks ahead as the race for the 2025/26 Finance Trust Women’s Super League title gains momentum.
