East Africa Club Netball Championship Enters Day Two, NIC, Prisons and KCCA Still on Steady Run
The three of the four Uganda representatives in the East Africa Club Netball championships are still on unbeaten run after day two of the event underway at Kamwokya Community Sports Centre.
The 20th edition of the championship that attracted 13 clubs both male and female threw off yesterday and NIC perfectly started with a 75-30 win margin against Zanzibar representatives, KVZ Netball club.
The day two at the same venue had five fixtures on menu.
For starters, the female championship attracted nine teams after the Kenya representatives pulled out at the last hour, the nine were pitted in two groups of five and four respectively.
The first game saw KCCA NC comfortably beat UPDF 67-24 before the 2017 Prison Netball Club hummer JKT Mbweni.
KCCA unleashed her new signings today in Hanisha Muhammad, signed from UCU, Ngamita Fortunate from Ugx Luweero and free Agent, Jessca Jackson and Hanisha had this to comment after her debut where she scored 42 goals.
“UCU is an amazing institution but when you look at KCCA at how they are structured, the players have intentional they are; you can tell that they are a good side and am looking forward to improving my game and help the team because they have particular goals they want to achieve but again I use my strength and it’s what I want to improve more”
The head coach, Fred Mugerwa was contented with the performance of his girls especially the new signings.
“The team played well today, the way you saw it, we fielded some of our new signings and we can go ahead and compete in this tournaments,” said KCCA NC Coach Fred Mugerwa.
“We came to compete, and obviously our aim is to win.”
Mugerwa, who doubles as the She Cranes coach added: “The New signings also played well, and I am satisfied with their effort. We had a problem in our shooting, and the addition of Hanisha is a big boost.”.
NIC also won their second game with a 70-28 against Tanzania’s Uhamiaji and Prison bounced back for their second game and they also won it with a 62-27 margin against KVZ.
Tomorrow there will be four fixtures, three for Ladies and one for men.
