Covid-19 Mess it Again, FUFA Postpones Regional Leagues

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) postponed the regional Leagues following the upsurge in the number of COVID-19 case in the country.

The regional Leagues especially the Kampala region have been kicking off their fixtures for 2021 season over this weekend but now the arrangements twisted due to Pandemic.

This follows the circular released by FUFA that hub unpleasant news of the postponing of the regional leagues came out on 02nd June 2021 and was signed by the second FUFA deputy CEO, Kiiza Decolas who is in charge of football matters.

“As you all aware according to statistics from the Ministry of Health, there is an upsurge in the number of COVID-19 cases as well as of deaths in Uganda.

Therefore in order to ensure the healthy and safety of players, technical staffs and all stakeholders, The FUFA regional leagues anticipated for kickoff in near future are hereby postponed until further notice.” The letter reads in part.

“Clubs all stakeholders are advised to ensure that COVID 19 vaccination is take by all” it continues.

The division was called off at middle stage of the 2019-2020 due to the out break of Covid-19 in March last year.

After a period of over a year the leagues were given a hope to end the long wait.

That brought teams to start preparations for the league designed to be played on one leg between 17th June and 15 July 2021.

Unfortunately the will not be experienced due to the greatest enemy of sports COVID 19.
