CAF WCL Zonal Qualifiers: Lady Doves Fly Five Times Higher Than Djibouti Armed Forces Shooting Range

The Uganda’s representatives in the CAF Women’s Champions League zonal qualifiers kicked off today, Saturday at Nyayo Stadium, Kenya, eased past Djibouti Armed Forces (FAD FC) to register an important victory in the maiden attempt in group A.
The free scoring Fazila Ikwaput was on target twice, Riticia Nabbosa, Alupo Norah and own goal from Nasteho Roble Djama gave Lady Doves a 5-0 positive start in their pursuit to represent CECAFA region in the Inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League slated to be held in Egypt in November this year.
From the first whistle, Doves proved to be a side that needs a win in maiden attempt, as early as three minutes into the game, Norah Alupo was to give Dove a quick lead but her header was denied by a post. The Uganda’s representatives never put a back foot, kept on pushing untill the 16th minute when Riticia Nabbosa went into records as the first player in CECAFA region to score a goal in CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers with a simple header.
Thanks to assist from Norah Alupo who received a well calculated ball cross from Fazila Ikwaput.
The 2021 FUFA Women’s Super League top scorer (8goals) single handedly drove the ball almost 40 yards from the goal press in her first goal at the back of the net at half past an hour.
Even in second half of the game, Fred Musiime’s coached side kept on pressing the Djibouti Armed Forces against the wall and Norah Alupo headed in the third goal for the Doves, thanks to Spencer Nakacwa’s well curved cross from the right flank.
As it wasn’t enough, Norah after seven minutes, she laid a teasing minus that made Nasteho Roble Djama to score in her own net.
Fazila Ikwaput came in to seal the victory with a cool press at the back of the net.
Now Lady Doves tops the group A table with three points and five goals before Simba Queens and PVP come in for game two of the day in the Evening at Nyayo Stadium.
