Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga WFC became the winners of Inaugural End of year Women’s Beach Soccer Festival held at Mutoola Beach Mukono on Friday 31, December, 2021.
The Nkugwa Rogers coached side beat Nansana Ladies FC 3-1 on final and the Nansana Ladies went into the books of history as the first defeated side om final of 2021 edition.
The tournament attracted ten teams including league and none league teams which gave a great vibe to the event that pioneered a would be serious women beach soccer whose development responsibility switched to Uganda Women Football Association hands.
“I am happy that we won the first title of this tournament, we played as a team and it worked. The team is good and we are still working together even for the league.” Catherine Nagadya, the Tournament top scorer and Most Valuable Player said after lifting the trophy.
Her teammate, Daphine Nyayenga won the best goalkeeper glove.
“It came as a dream but today it came to reality, we got a good number of teams, the girls enjoyed and playing good soccer, as an Association we have scored.” Said UWFA Chairperson Margaret Kubingi.
Mutoola Ladies awarded with the Fair Play award of the End of year Women Beach Soccer Festival 2021 as Nansana Ladies and Prison Ladies became second and third respectively.
