Masaza Cup 2021: Bugerere sends Buvuma Boys back to Fishing as Kyaggwe, Busiro Share Spoils

After displaying poor performance yesterday against Busiro Ssaza, Bugerere today bounced back stronger and comfortably thumped, the Buvuma Islanders by 4-1 score line on Friday at FUFA Technical Center Njeru.

Like they were stubborn against Kyaggwe Ssaza, Buvuma came very strong even against Bugerere and they were first to take the driving seat as early as to minutes, thanks to Henry Brian Katamba strike.

That joy for the Islanders never last for more than five minutes, Bugerere got equalizer through Mark Ssali header in the 7th minute, thanks to Ibrahim Bbosa well taken free kick from the right flank.

The same Ibrahim Bbosa converted a penalty two minutes into second stanza to hand Anthony Kayiwa lead.

After ten minutes, Buga Moses scores the third for Bugerere in the 57th minute before Clinton Asiimwe sealed the win in the 86th minute.

The win gave Bugerere three points and the side need a win on Monday against noisy neighbors, Kyaggwe Ssaza if they are to make it to quarter finals.

“We have the ability to beat Kyaggwe come Monday. I thank my players for the character shown in the 4-1 win over Buvuma despite the slow start” Anthony Kayiwa, Bugerere head coach remarked after the game

Buvuma now only need to complete their group games and then move back to their usual work of fishing, they have no chance of qualifying even if they win their last group fixture against 2019 finalists, Busiro.

The last game of day two ended in stalemate, Kyaggwe Ssaza and Busiro shared points and both moved to four points in two games.

The results means, three teams still have chance to make it to quarter finals if win the last group game.
