Ug Decides2021: Tumukunde Promises To Create Militia Group To Safe guard Karamajong Cattle
Presidential candidate retired Lt. General Henry Tumukunde has promised to institute militia groups among the Karamajongs to safe guard their cattle farmers against cattle rustling.
Tumukunde argues that the disarmament exercise that was done by government has rendered the karamajong cattle farmers defenseless when attacked by cattle rustlers.
Tumukunde who is now currently campaigning in Karamoja region made the promise while speaking to his supporters in Olutekei and Kacheri in Kotido district.
He has also promised to introduce a local content law to ensure that local people benefit from the mineral riches in their respective areas than individuals from no where who takes advantage of absence of law’s.

“You have been disarmed and being left to the mercy of Pokot, I think in my time, I will create the joint force of Militia from your own town and then the army or police depend on the intensity of the problem. And then we shall work together to seal off those borders and stop them from stealing our cows.” Tumukunde assured Karamajongs.
Tumukunde also hinted about the issue of minerals.
“There is also minerals, am told you are complaining, people come and mine your minerals and you have no benefit. We shall have to institute a law called a Content Law, that when you extract any thing from an area, you have to leave a percentage.“
Tumukunde today traversed through three districts, which is Abim, Kabong and Karenga.
