Cricket: Suraj Karavadra Officially Unveiled As Lady Cricket Cranes Head Coach
The newly appointed Lady Cricket Cranes head coach, Suraj Karavadra officially unveiled today at Kati Kati Restaurant Lugogo-Kampala.
The Indian National with routes from Uganda, signed a contract of two years and given at least three strong tasks, that is to qualify the Lady Cricket Cranes to T20 World Cup, the Commonwealth games and to move the team’s rankings from 18th to at least 14th position.
“I am very excited to be working with a group of very talented Cricketers, my passion has always been for women’s cricket, want to take the Lady Cricketers to the highest level wherever I am.
I have got a lot of experience behind me, I can’t wait to get started, to get to know the team, to dive into the culture.
Its going to be a long time process, I believe in having structures, I want to make Lady Cricket Cranes a big team in the region and in Africa.” Said Suraj Karavadra, the new head coach of Lady Cricket Cranes.
The Uganda Cricket Association, CEO, Martin Ondeko also commented on the appointment of the coach and hinted on the process they went through to get the best candidate for the Ladies.
“The recruitment process started at the end of February, we got 18 applications, they came down to four people, one from India,Sri Lanka, UK and South Africa, the committee felt that Mr. Suraj Karavadra is the best candidate for the job. He has alot of experience, there is a biggest task ahead of him, he has to take us back to the global Qualifiers, if he does that, it will be our second time, because we last went there in 2017.” CEO in his words.

The team has been under the guidance of UCA Development Manager Davis Turinawe and it’s getting ready for T20 World Cup qualifiers due in September in Botswana 2021.
