“Don’t Only Sing about Peace, Apply the Rule of Law”- Buganda Prime Tells Gov’t Ahead of M7’s Swearing In

It’s confirmed, next week on Wednesday 12, May, 2021, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is going to to swear in as the president of Uganda for sixth elective term.

Prior to the event which is to take place at Kololo Independence Ground, Kampala, the Buganda Kingdom Prime Owek Charles Peter Mayiga commended government to apply the Rule of law in their governance not only to sing about peace which is not visible in the country. He asked government to allow the rule of law work if they are really for peace.

Katikiro takes peace in Uganda as just a song, therefore he asked for the rule which he anticipate to bring much peace than this in NRM song.

“On 12th May 2021 those are few days from now the president of the Republic of Uganda is going swear in the sixth term,we can’t forget how many Ugandans are in jail for unknown and unfair cases.

In November over 40 Ugandans where arrested for allegedly having four bullets, and they are many others in jail for long periods some are known and others are unknown. The excessive killings we see every time from the security agencies they killed a student, in few days they killed a journalist I don’t know that if someone offends has to killed!!” Katikkiro expressed his feelings while addressing media at Bulange Mengo yesterday.

“If they really want the peace they sing, the rule of law is the only way to apply that peace ” he added.

Katikkiro tackled this in the meeting with elected Leaders from Butambala district led by Katambala Hajj Suleiman Magala.

On number of occasions, Katikkiro has been questioning the governance of NRM Party and how they treat Ugandans especially those opposing their government.

The elected leaders hosted by Katikkiro includes; Aisha Kabanda, Hon Muwanga Kivumbi and the LC 5 chairperson Nambowa Rashidah.
