Mbarara City FC have secured Africa Coffee Park as their new main shirt sponsor in a four-year partnership as the club intensifies preparations for the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season.

The partnership will see Africa Coffee Park become the club’s main shirt sponsor for the next four years.

The announcement was made on Friday at Twed Tower in Kampala and the club was represented by the chairman and founder Hon. Mwine Mpaka.

Mbarara City seek to strengthen their financial and administrative structures while pursuing their ambition of promoting football talent in Ankole and Uganda at large.

The club thanked Africa Coffee Park for joining its journey and called upon more sponsors to come on board as it seeks to build a stronger and more sustainable institution.

“As Africa Coffee Park, we are happy to be part of this development. We are looking at how we can develop sports together, and of course, we also want to build a culture of domestic coffee consumption.”

“Africa Coffee Park is also going to provide a home for Mbarara City FC,” said Hillary, who represented Africa Coffee Park.

The sponsorship announcement comes alongside a major restructuring of the club’s leadership, with new board members appointed to help drive Mbarara City forward.

Hon. Mwine Mpaka will serve as Board Chairperson/Club President, deputised by Mr. Nixon Tusiime. Other board members include Hon. Mwijukye Francis, Hon. Mercy Kanyesigye, Eng. Jackson Byarugaba in charge of administration, Osborn Mushabe in charge of mobilisation, Ms Anita Vicky in charge of sponsorships, Osborn Turyasingura in charge of finance, as well as Mr. Benon Akandwanaho, Ms. Elone Natumanya Ainebyoona and Mr. Kigongo Asuman.

The club is also embarking on a rebranding process ahead of its 10th anniversary on August 25, 2026.

Mbarara City was formed in 2016 following the merger of Citizens Football Club and Wakiso Town Council Football Club. The club says it is the only football side from Western Uganda to have consistently featured in the top two tiers of Ugandan football over the past decade, including eight seasons in the Uganda Premier League.

As part of the rebranding drive, the club plans to engage stakeholders across the Ankole region to determine how best to reposition the institution to represent the wider region.

The club is also facing a challenge over its home venue. Kakyeka Stadium, which has been turned into an events facility, is currently unable to meet the standards required to host Uganda Premier League matches.

Mbarara City have therefore been hosting their home games at Rwamwanja Stadium in Kamwenge District but are in discussions with the FUFA Licensing Committee to return to Ankole. If approved, the club says it will host its matches at Africa Coffee Park Stadium in Rwashamaire Town, Ntungamo District.

On the playing front, Mbarara City have set winning the Uganda Premier League as their target for the new season and have already recruited several players.

The new signings include Brian Aheebwa from Arba Minch City FC, Rogers Mugisha from KCCA FC, Ivan Bogere from UPDF, Eric Tumwine from Kitara FC, Iran Musunguizi and Akoragye Hassan from Kyambura Rasters, Solomon Okwalinga from Lugazi FC and Mahad Rashid from Bunyaruguru United.
