Sir Apollo Kaggwa Schools Strike Gold at FUBA Primary Schools League
Sir Apollo Kaggwa Schools’ investment in talent development is beginning to pay off, with the schools claiming gold, silver and bronze at the 2026 FUBA Primary Schools League.
The U13 boys emerged as the biggest winners, defeating Hill Preparatory School 47–44 in a closely contested final to secure the championship. Their success was complemented by silver for the U13 girls and bronze for the U11 team.
The U13 boys announced their intentions early, thrashing Olive School Namugongo 90–9 before defeating Twinbrook Schools 78–6. They continued their impressive run with an 82–12 quarter-final victory over Kampala Community International School and a 40–21 semi-final win against Beautiful Beginning School Ssisa.
The U11 team also enjoyed a strong campaign, beating St. Patrick Primary School Kira 29–14 and Olive School Namugongo 40–12 in the group stages. After losing their semi-final, they recovered to beat Hill Preparatory School 38–20 in the third-place playoff and secure bronze.
The U13 girls recorded a 24–3 victory over Twinbrook Schools and progressed through the knockout stages with a 36–12 quarter-final win over Kampala Community International School. They defeated Beautiful Beginning School Ssisa 28–22 in the semi-final before losing 34–24 to Hill Preparatory School in the final to settle for silver.
Individual performances were also recognised, with Nabwami Sonia named U11 Girls’ Most Valuable Player and Kanadi Waleed winning the U13 Boys’ MVP award.
The tournament success comes as Sir Apollo Kaggwa Schools continues to strengthen its Talent Development Programme, which provides learners with opportunities in sport, creative arts, leadership and other co-curricular activities.
The schools’ basketball programme has also benefited from the launch of a new basketball court at Sir Apollo Kaggwa Primary School Kira, providing learners with a dedicated facility for training and competition.
The latest achievement adds to a growing record in co-curricular activities. Earlier this year, the schools finished among the top 10 teams at the 2026 Father Grimes National Schools Chess Championship at Ntare School in Mbarara.
Sir Apollo Kaggwa Schools, which operates a network of primary schools across Kampala and Wakiso, continues to promote academic excellence alongside talent development.
The FUBA campaign, highlighted by U13 boys’ gold, U13 girls’ silver and U11 bronze, underlines the schools’ growing strength in basketball and their broader commitment to developing well-rounded learners both inside and outside the classroom.
