Namata Returns to Kawempe Ahead of CAF CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers

Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC have completed the signing of forward Anitah Namata, marking the return of the experienced attacker to her childhood club after seven years away.
The reigning FUFA Women Super League champions announced the move on their official social media platforms, confirming that Namata has signed a contract that will keep her at the club until 2028.
“We are delighted to announce the signing of Anita Namata from Kenya’s club Vihiga Queens FC. The forward agreed a deal that will run until 2028. Everyone at the club welcomes you back home Anita,” the club posted.
Namata’s return comes at a crucial time as Kawempe Muslim intensify preparations for the 2026 CECAFA CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers, scheduled to take place in Kigali, Rwanda later this month.
The Ugandan champions have been drawn in Group B alongside Ethiopia’s Central Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) Women FC and UJECO of Djibouti, and will be aiming to secure a place in the continental championship.
The forward arrives with a wealth of experience gained both locally and across the region. She was part of the Vihiga Queens side that won the CECAFA CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers in 2021 before returning to Uganda, where she claimed a silver medal of the same tournament with She Corporate FC in the 2022 season. She has also previously featured for Kampala Queens FC in 2024/25 season.
Namata becomes Kawempe Muslim’s second signing of the current transfer window following the arrival of forward Apiding Cecilia from Lady Doves on a two-year contract.
Her addition significantly strengthens the club’s attacking options, joining a formidable squad that includes returning captain Shakirah Nyiragahirwa, Agnes Nabukenya, league top scorer Latifah Nakasi, Jovia Nakagolo, Dorcus Kisakye and Shadia Nabirye.
With an experienced squad and key reinforcements now in place, Kawempe Muslim will be confident of mounting a strong challenge for the regional title in Kigali as they seek qualification for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
