Government Is Unfair to Give a Back For School Fees Defaulters to Lean On- Daniel Kizza

Bugweri: March 30th and 31st, 2021 are the official dates Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) stipulated for Primary Seven pupils countrywide to sit their Primary Leaving Examinations.

Few days to that date, but schools still have a big number of fees defaulters and yet the government asked Schools to allow students/pupil to sit for the final exams even if they didn’t complete their school dues.

While speaking to this website after  the successful prayers for the Primary Seven pupils warming for their final exams, New Age Primary School Wante, Bulanku Sub County, Bugweri District, Director, Daniel Kizza poured out his disagreement with the government’s request for schools to let pupil sit for final exams when the school is still demanding them.

Kizza is saying that the government does not entertain losses on its side but doesn’t care about the private schools’ losses especially during this COVID-19 era.

“When it came to registration of children at UNEB, government never waved off the registration fee even when the parliament asked it to do so, parents paid that money which is even higher that the fees we ask for a term. But when it came to us, demanding parents to pay the school dues before their pupils sit for final exams, the government is just giving them a bragging right that the children can sit even when they are defaulters, this is not fair us as private schools.” Director Daniel Kizza expressed his dissatisfaction.

Kizza requested parents to be humble when it comes to that issue and they need to sit with schools where their children are, because the school will lose less compared to the former if they refuse such pupil to sit for their final examinations.

“We are demanding a lot from these parents and yet the government never fulfilled what they promised us, so I urge parents to be humble, go and sit with schools and pave the way forward amicably but if you sit there and say that government said, your child will end up losing.” He noted.

Kizza also asked pupils who are going to sit for their finals to prioritize education, because it’s the only thing that can brighten their future.
